An Iraqi theatrical director and actress, born in Baghdad in 1953. She is the daughter of the Iraqi artist Khalil Shawki. She obtained a diploma in directing and acting from the Baghdad College of Fine Arts. She studied theater directing in Moscow and obtained a master’s degree from the State Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts. She presented works as an actress and director, such as Where Are You, My Homeland? (1982). She worked in Syria on several productions, including The Black Kingdom. In London, she established, with a group of Arab and Iraqi artists, the Actor's Studio in 1991, and she produced a number of works abroad, including The House of Bernarda Alba by García Lorca.
