She attended convent schools and went to the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and the École internationale de théâtre Jacques Lecoq. Her parents were actress Margaretta Scott and composer John Wooldridge. She is known for her roles in The Jewel in the Crown (1984), Hope and Glory (1987), and Tamara Drewe (2010). She is married to actor and writer Andy de la Tour.
