English writer, director, and producer of Polish Jewish descent, born December 16, 1922, in West Ham County, London, England, United Kingdom. He was married to Sheila Phillips and they got separated, then he married Maria St. Clair in 1981. He made his debut in the movie Sunday by the Sea (1951), where he co-directed and wrote it. He is known for Four in the Morning (1965), Little Sweetheart (1989), and Black Joy (1977).
