A German actor, born in Bayreuth, Germany, as Fritz Heinrich Rasp. His daughter was the writer Renate Rasp. He started his artistic career through the theater. His film career was interrupted when he served in the army from 1916 to 1918 during World War I. In 1963, he won the Honorary Award presented by the German Film Awards in recognition of his outstanding individual contributions to German cinema over the years. Among the most prominent films in which he participated are Metropolis, The 3 Penny Opera, and Lina Braake. He died on November 30, 1976, in Gräfelfing, Bavaria, West Germany.
