She started her literary career by writing short stories and publishing them in newspapers and magazines, then she started writing novels. After her work gained wide fame, she began another stage to adapt her stories and novels for cinema. Among the most prominent films based on her work are Keeper of the Flame and Vivacious Lady. She died on November 4, 1959, in Princeton, New Jersey, USA.
