An Austrian writer and producer, born in Vienna, Austria. He studied archeology and ancient history at the University of Vienna, but since he was from a Jewish family, they decided it was unsafe to stay in Austria and left for New York City in 1938. He studied Japanese at Columbia University and later studied comparative religion and parapsychology. He taught parapsychology at the New York Institute of Technology. He wrote over 120 books about supernatural and occult themes. He married Catherine Genevieve Buxhoeveden in 1962, and they had two children. He is known for The Amityville Curse (1990). He died on April 26, 2009, in Manhattan, New York City, USA.
