An American retired naval officer, writer and actor, born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA, on July 12, 1889. He married Georgia Annvilla Haislip. He authored a number of American marine adventure stories. His most important works include The Flying Missile (1950), Thunder Afloat (1939), Flight Command (1940), and Follow the Fleet (1936). He died in Palo Alto, California, USA, on September 3, 1978.
