An Irish actor, born in Dublin, Ireland, United Kingdom. Among his most important works are Barriers Burned Away (1925), Beyond the Trail (1926), Cameo Kirby (1923), and East Lynne (1925). Eric Mayne was a star on the London stage in the early twentieth century and appeared in many silent British films before heading to the USA. He was educated in Westminster and Durham, England, and spent nearly 30 years on stage, both in London and in his native Ireland. He had a penchant for Shakespearean roles, and in his later years, he lectured on Shakespeare at Los Angeles University College. He participated in silent films until the advent of talkies, then his career declined, but he remained in demand as an extra and supporting actor in films. He died in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA, on February 9, 1947.
