An American character film and television actor, born in Portland, Oregon, USA. He specialized in terrifying or abnormal roles and his career spanned nearly 30 years. He was the president of the Independent Film Producers of America. Outside of acting, he invested his money in a restaurant, and he was also a fan of car racing. He was married twice and had two children. Among his notable works are One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961), Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze (1975), and Suddenly (1954). He died of leukemia in Los Angeles, California, USA, on November 21, 1979, at age 50.
