His film Tlayucan (1962) was nominated for...Read more the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and his film Lo que importa es vivir (1987) was screened at the 15th Moscow International Film Festival. He passed away in Morelos, Mexico, on December 3, 1992.
