An English actress, born in Southport, Lancashire, England, UK as Valerie Jeanne Wilkinson. She grew up in India, where she received her initial education, and when the Second World War broke out, she returned with her mother to England, where she joined Lowther College. When she was 18 years old, she was offered to join the RADA, the Old Vic School, and Bristol Old Vic, but her father initially objected, and in the end, he allowed her to take a directors' course at the Old Vic, and she made her debut in West End theaters in 1958 and then worked at the Apollo Theatre. She worked in film and television in the fifties. She was married twice and had 7 children. One of her twin daughters died of a brain tumor in 1999, and she herself suffered from poor health during the last two decades of her life. Some of her notable works are The Vise (1955-1961), Casanova '73 (1973) and Agony (1979-1981). She died in London, England, UK on October 11, 2005, at age 74.
