An American radio personality, actor and bandleader, born as James King Kern Kyser in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, USA. He married actress Georgia Carroll (1944-1985), they had three daughters, and she stayed with him until his death. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1928. He headed a musical band, worked as an entertainment broadcaster, and began taking clarinet lessons. He appeared with his band in a few World War II-era films, and toured with them in Midwestern restaurants and nightclubs. After his retirement, he became a Christian Science teacher and traveled around the world as a Christian Science lecturer. He was awarded two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his music recordings. Some of his notable works are You'll Find Out (1940), That's Right - You're Wrong (1939) and Lolita (1997). He died of a heart attack in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA, on July 23, 1985, at the age of 80.
