A Hungarian-born actor, born in Budapest, Hungary. He was married three times and had four children. Hargitay was the 1955 Mr. Universe bodybuilding champion. He appeared as a fitness model in magazines and began his film career in 1957, with most of his film work taking place in Italian cinema. He co-starred in four films with his wife, actress Jayne Mansfield, and famously portrayed Hercules in Italian films. Some of his most notable films include Promises..... Promises (1963), Bloody Pit of Horror (1965), Gli amori di Ercole (1960), and Delirium (1972). He passed away in Los Angeles, California, on September 14, 2006, from multiple myeloma, at the age of 80.
