An American actress and model, born in Montclair, New Jersey, USA. She was one of 5 children of Jewish immigrants from Germany. She worked in her teens as a medical assistant, then became a model, then signed a contract with MGM, after which she became famous and appeared on magazine covers. In the late fifties, she moved on to television work. She was married twice and had two children. Among her notable works are The Bad and the Beautiful (1952), High Hell (1958) and Young Bess (1953). She died in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA, on June 27, 2011, after a period of illness, at age 81.
