A British actor, born in Cheshire, England, United Kingdom. He married actress Dorothy Griffin, and they had two children. He was a typical English performer and leader at the London-based Royal Theatre, where he began in 1889. At the Royal Theatre, he was a member of the Royal Theatrical Fund and His Majesty's Company of Comedians. Later, he relocated to the US and started working as a silent film actor. He appeared in notable works such as Once to Every Woman (1920), Love Insurance (1919), Gentle Julia (1923), and Easy Virtue (1928). He passed away in Los Angeles, California, USA, on July 1, 1970, at the age of 90.
