He was a Chilean-born Mexican writer, director, and actor. He studied at the Instituto Nacional General José Miguel Carrera. His first writing credit was Las de Barranco (1938). He is known for Doña Diabla (1950), La dulce enemiga (1957), and May God Forgive Me (1948). His last work was La guerra es un buen negocio (1983). Among his many awards and nominations are Ariel Awards, Mexico and a nomination at the Cannes Film Festival.
