An Argentine-Spanish actor, writer, and director, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to actors Diego Botto and Cristina Rota. After his father was kidnapped and murdered in 1977, he moved with his mother and older sister, actress María Botto, to Madrid, Spain, where his younger sister Nur Al Levi, also an actress, was born. He later relocated to New York to study under Uta Hagen. He made his debut as a child in the 1982 film Ni te cases ni te embarques. Among his notable works are 1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992), The Suicide Squad (2021), and On the Fringe (2022), for which he was nominated for a Venice Horizons Award for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival. In 2015, he married Olga Rodriguez, and they have one child.
