A Canadian athlete, humanitarian, and cancer research activist, born in Winnipeg, Canada. In 1980, after having one leg amputated due to cancer, he went on a run across Canada to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Fox studied kinesiology at Simon Fraser University. He appeared as himself in Terry Fox: I Had A Dream (1981). Terry Fox received many honors after his death as a number of monuments and memorials have been named after him. He died of cancer on June 28, 1981, in New Westminster, Canada.
