An American child actor, born in Los Angeles, California, as William Joseph Cody Jr. He began his career at the age of nine, working with his father, cowboy movie star, writer, and producer Bill Cody. He joined the US Navy during World War II and retired from acting in the late forties. He married Elizabeth Sidford MacGregor (1949-1988), with whom he remained until her death. Among his notable works are The Girl of the Golden West (1938), Romance of the Rockies (1937), and Scouts to the Rescue (1939). He committed suicide in Studio City, California, USA, on August 11, 1989, at the age of 64, after he wrote a note saying that he missed his late wife.
