A Trinidadian actor and calypso singer, born as Lancelot Victor Edward Pinard in Cumuto, Trinidad and Tobago. His parents were musicians who loved the English language, and his studies took him to New York City in 1940, to discover his love for music. He took the name Sir Lancelot to write and perform calypso music, and he appeared in cinema, radio, and live theater. He made many recordings, sang in commercials, and composed music scores for films. He toured Europe for 6 years. He became an American citizen in 1960, and he had three daughters. He's known for I Walked with a Zombie (1943), The Buccaneer (1958), and Brute Force (1947). He died in Anaheim, California, USA, on March 12, 2001, at the age of 98.
