An American art critic, born in Oak Park, Illinois, USA. He received honorary doctorates from the Art Institute of Chicago in 2008 and the Kansas City Art Institute in 2011. He also worked as an art critic for The Village Voice and won the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in 2018, for which he has been nominated several times. His credits include The Lost Leonardo (2021).
