An Australian actor residing in America, who appeared in cinema, theater, and television until the early 1980s. He was born in Casterton, Victoria, Australia. Among his most important works are Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983), One Step Beyond (1959-1961), and Battlestar Galactica (1978-1979). He grew up on a sheep farm and wanted to be an actor at an early age, and his first theatrical appearance was in Australia in 1934, then he appeared on Australian television. He was trained in acting by the famous actress Ada Reeve and spent a year with theater companies, then he moved to England and worked in London theaters, then he became a prolific translator of roles. He served in the British Royal Air Force as an intelligence officer, during World War II, and after the war he moved to Canada and worked in radio and television. He signed with Paramount, moved to Hollywood, and worked in cinema. He also regularly appeared on television and played the roles of civilized and benevolent authorities, and sometimes fraudsters. He died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, on April 25, 1985, from a heart attack, at the age of 72.
