A Scottish television, theater, and film actor, born in Maryhill, Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. Among his most important works are The Vital Spark (1965-1974), Dr. Finlay’s Casebook (1962), Eye of the Needle (1981), and Doctor at Sea (1974). John Grieve attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama before joining the Citizens Theatre in 1951. Although he is mainly known for his comedic roles and worked with a variety of Scottish comedians, he also appeared in dramatic films. Grieve died in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, on January 21, 2003, at the age of 78.
