Biography

A British actor, born in Wallasey, Cheshire, England, United Kingdom. He was married to Paddy Lennox (1941-1999), they had two children, and she remained with him until his death. Among his most important works are The Hard Day’s Night (1964), Nurse on Wheels (1963), Please Sir!...Read more (1971), and Sykes (1972-1979). He grew up in Liverpool and received his higher education at Liverpool College. He worked with his father in the family jewelery company, then joined Bristol Theological College, to become an Anglican priest, but in the end, he joined the Liverpool Theatre Company. He trained to become an actor in theatre, radio, cinema, and television and worked in television commercials. He was drafted into the Air Force during World War II. After his service ended, due to the closure of civilian theaters, he worked in entertaining soldiers with the ENSA Foundation. After his retirement, he and his wife lived in Australia next to their youngest son and grandchildren, until he died in Brisbane, Australia, on October 7, 1999, at the age of 85 years.
