He first appeared on the cinema screen in 1930 and became a member of the...Read more Screen Actors Guild in 1935. He joined the British Army when World War II broke out and was appointed as a liaison officer in the US Army. He received the US Legion of Merit for his work in communications on the French front. He worked in theater in America and appeared in some Hollywood films, but he did not reach stardom in Hollywood, so he returned to England to work in cinema and West End theaters. Frank Lawton married actress Evelyn Laye. He died in Marylebone, London, England, United Kingdom, on June 10, 1969, aged 64. Among his most important works are A Night to Remember (1958), The Invisible Ray (1936), The Winslow Boy (1936), and Cavalcade (1933).
