Actor Sean Penn has protested against a statement made by African American artist Wyclef Jean at a recent concert in New York. Wyclef was performing his popular title “The President” when he mentioned that: “I got a message for Sean Penn: Maybe he ain't see me in Haiti because he was too busy sniffing cocaine”. Penn has further asserted that he is against Wyclef’s nomination for President of Haiti. Sean Penn’s personal representative has further stated that “All of the accusations made by Wyclef Jean to Pean are erroneous and have no basis in reality. Moreover, it would seem that Wyclef Jean has no knowledge of the material help required by those affected in Haiti.” The representative continued by saying: “Aid workers in Haiti cannot use any drugs whatsoever as part of the regulations of the J/P organization that is led by Sean Penn – in fact he was the one who set the rules for the organization. Thus, all of Jean’s claims are incorrect, however, they are not surprising. It should be recalled that at the beginning of the crisis, Wyclef declared that he intends to nominate himself for the presidency of Haiti. Sean Penn responded to him by saying that all that he is interested in is receiving aid from the United States – but this can’t happen since Wyclef was not in Haiti before February 2010, whereas Penn has been there for six months.
