A recent poll has named Hollywood star Johnny Depp as the highest grossing star of 2010. The 79th annual poll which was conducted by the Quigley Publishing Company has thus restored the title to Johnny Depp after he had previously held it in 2006 and 2007. Those who participated in the poll also stated that they felt that Depp had had a stronger presence at theaters this year and had eclipsed other performers through his roles in “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Tourist”.Second place went to Angelina Jolie while Robert De Niro came in third and Matt Damon was fourth. Steve Carrel followed in fifth place while sixth and seventh place went to Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington respectively. They were followed by Leonardo Di Caprio who came in eighth. George Clooney took ninth place and Anne Hathawy came in tenth. Pollers were also asked which male and female performers they expected to lead the poll in the future and to this effect Zach Galifianakis and Michelle Williams were nominated.
