Lebanese musician Elissa has spoken about her personal life whilst being hosted by the show “Abshir” which airs on the MBC satellite network. Elissa has stated that she has decided to delay her wedding due to career reasons but that she nonetheless still loves the reserved man that she is engaged to, a man who treats her in accordance with Eastern values and mores.Thereafter the Lebanese star shocked the show’s audiences by saying that she wishes civil law would be altered so that one could have children without going through the hassle of marriage adding that a career in the arts does not allow one the opportunity to get married. As the show progressed Elissa indicated that in a toss-up between A’mr Diab or Tamer Housny, she would have to name A’mr Diab as the better music star. However, Elissa declined to make a similar comparison between her Lebanese peers Carol Samaha and Nancy A’gram. These comments were followed by a digression into politics whereby Elissa stated that she does not conceal her political opinions and fears no consequences as she is a citizen first of all that lives in a democratic country where all viewpoints are respected. The show concluded with Elissa singing a few of her songs including “A’ Bally Habeeby” (“My Beloved is on my Mind”) and “Masdoumah” (“I am Shocked”). Elissa also sang two of musician Salwa Al Qatreeb’s songs, one of which is titled “Khoudny Ma’ak” (“Take me with You”). Elissa also expressed her great pleasure with regards to the good reception that her latest album “Tisadaq bemeen” (“Who do You Believe In”) has received.
