One month following the announcement of Sullafa as the title’s leading actor, director Hosny Saleh has decided to take Syrian performer Sullafa Fawakhragy off the set of “Wadi al-Molouk” in a move that has come as sort of a surprise. The producing company has stated that the reason for this latest development is Sullafa’s insistence that her Syrian husband, Wael Ramadan, share the lead with her. Director Hosny has reportedly refused such an arrangement and thereby announced the commencement of a search for a female lead to replace Sullafa. The director has thus far refused to disclose the names of the female performers which have been nominated as replacements for Sullafa. The names are set to be revealed at a press conference which will be held at a hotel in Cairo on the 22nd of the current month of January.“Wady al-Molouk” is an adaptation of a novel titled “Youm Ghaem fee al-Barr al-Gharby” (“A Cloudy Day on the Western Shores”) which was authored by novelist Mohamed al-Mansy Qindeel. The screenplay was prepared by Mohamed al-Hefnawy while the dialogue was written by the renowned poet A’bd Al Rahman al-Abanoudy. The production will feature the talents of Summaya al-Khashab and Sabreen, in addition to a third female performer who will replace Sullafa.
