Despite the fact that he had passed away several years ago and in particular in June of 2006, actress and film maker Bushra has stated that she can now receive condolences for her departed father “Ahmed ‘Abd Allah Reza” following the dramatic events which saw the people ousting president Hosny Mubarak and his regime. Durra posted a statement on her facebook page which read: “May God have mercy on you my father, the regime which has wronged you and your generation for many years has been brought down and condolences are received today on your behalf.”Bushra’s father was among the best known members of the political opposition against former president Anwar el-Saddat and ousted president Hosny Mubarak as he was a leader of the student movement in Egypt during the 1970s. He later travelled to England in order to earn a doctorate through presenting his thesis “Students and Politics in Egypt”. The work included an introduction dedicating the paper to “the honorable people of ‘Ayn al-Seera… the illiterates who taught me… and the impoverished who enriched my conscience”.‘Abd Allah Reza passed away following a heart attack after a lifetime in which he had maintained an interest in the concerns of society and during which he had never shied away from speaking out against the authorities. Today, as his daughter had mentioned, condolences are being received for him.May God have mercy on Ahmed – a noble personage who was one of his kind.
