Performer Mona Zakky has announced that she is currently considering portraying Sally Zahran, who was among those martyred in the revolution, in a biographical cinematic role. Mona believes that such a title could honor Sally and the other martyrs of the revolution of the 25th of January. Mona was among the artists who were active in the revolution from its outset. Immediately following the success of the revolution, she made her way to the wall where the names and the pictures of the martyrs were posted. There, Mona posted a note thanking the martyred Egyptians who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the revolution. Part of Mona’s note read: “I am a child of this land and I am proud to be from the generation of youths who assumed this patriotic endeavor. When your countrymen see this wall they will know full well that there were those who gave up their lives for the welfare of their homeland.” Thereafter the note concluded with the following words: “My love to Egypt. Signed Mona Zakky – Egyptian national.”It should be noted that Sally Zahran was martyred on her way to Tahrir Square as she was intercepted by a group of ruffians who hit her on the head with a club. Sally subsequently died due to brain hemorrhaging.
