Producer Gabby Khoury has announced that the filming of the television series “Zatt”, a joint production by the Egyptian Global Film Company and the BBC, will be delayed so that the screenplay could be developed further. This development comes despite the fact that preparations for filming were more or less completed following the completion of the casting process. The series is an adaptation of a novel by the same name which was authored by Sun’ Allah Ibrahim. The story begins at the revolution of 1952 – the date of birth of the leading character “Zatt” – and continues all the way up to the 2011 presidential elections. This has meant that screenwriter Maryam Na’oum has had to go back to working on the screenplay. Moreover, the production is now set to be composed of 30 episodes rather than the original 15.Television series “Zatt” stars Nelly Karim who portrays the leading role in the drama, namely that of the character “Zatt”. The series also features the talents of Bassem Samra, Hany ‘Adel and Entissar among others.
