Director Ghada Selim has decided to limit her new series “Ma’a Subq al-Ashhar” to 15 episodes rather than the 30 which had previously been agreed to. The decision is motivated by a desire to complete the series in enough time to allow it to be aired during the upcoming month of Ramadan as the remaining time would not allow the completion of all episodes. Thus Ghada has agreed with screenwriter Waleed Youssif and the remaining members of the title’s crew to reduce the work to 15 episodes characterized by a more intensive flow of events. In a statement to the al-Masry al-Youm newspaper, the director has explained that filming will begin at the start of the upcoming month of April. Thus she believes that the time remaining before the beginning of the month of Ramadan is sufficient for the filming of 15 episodes without stresses whereby she has also added that this will benefit the series from a drama perspective as it will mean that the flow of events will be rapid and characterized by an intense rhythm. On a similar note, Ghada has affirmed that the budget allocated for production has been reduced, moreover it has been decided that the series will be filmed in two countries only rather than the four countries which had been previously agreed to. Ghada has also added that the performers who will feature in the production were very understanding of these developments and agreed to a reduction in their salaries in an effort to overcome the production crisis which Egyptian drama works are currently undergoing. The television series “Ma’a Subq al-Ashhar” is directed by Ghada Selim. It utilizes a screenplay authored by Waleed Youssif and features Tunisian musician Latifa in addition to Raghda, Eyad Nassar, ‘Ezzat Abou ‘Ouf, Mahmoud Qabeel and Amy Samir Ghanem.
