“Rio” tops the US box office

Animated production “Rio” has topped the box office returns of films being screened at American cinemas.Box office “Mojo” has reported that “Rio”, which features the voice of American actress Anne Hathaway, has topped the box office with returns of 40 million dollars thus coming ahead of “Scream 4” which features David Arquette, Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox which came in second with revenues in the order of 19.27 million dollars.“Hop” has retreated from first to third place with revenues of 11.16 million dollars while fourth place went to “Soul Surfer” which brought in 7.4 million dollars in returns. “Hanna” came in fifth with returns of about 7.32 million dollars.The remaining places went to “Arthur” (2011) – sixth place with 6.94 million dollars in returns, “Insidious” – seventh place with 6.85 million dollars in revenue, “Source code” – eighth with 6.3 million dollars in returns, “The Conspirator” – ninth with 3.92 million dollars in returns and “Your Highness” – tenth with 3.89 million dollars in returns.
