Nadine Labaki and Leila Kilani at the Paris International Film Festival

Paris International Film Festival invited the Arab filmmakers Nadine Labaki and Leila Kilani. On its 9th edition (2 - 13 July), the festival aims to make cinema a more popular material in Paris during summer. The festival will screen Nadine Labaki’s “Wa halla’ la wein? i.e. Where do we go now?” that was presented in the “Un certain regard” section at the Festival de Cannes and won the François Chalais award, a prize dedicated to the values of journalism.The festival will also screen Leila Kilani’s “Sur la planche i.e. On the plank”, which was well received by critics and audience during the Festival de Cannes’ “Directors fortnight”.The Festival competition includes the film “Circumstances”, filmed in Lebanon, and directed by Iranian-American filmmaker Maryam Keshavarz who dealt with the story of two girls raging against the traditions of their society.
