Arwa Gouda stated that the series "Citizen X" is considered a big step in her acting career, it is also a rebellion against the stereotypical gentle soft Egyptian female. In the series she plays the role of Layla. Arwa added that success in the television has a different feeling to it.According to a statement she made to "Al Masry AL Yoom" she said that she was initially nominated to play the role of "Sarah" which the actress Sherry Adel is now playing. She declined for that role because at the time she was very busy, but when the series was postponed due to the revolution she was given another chance to participate by director Dina Kareem , only this time she would play a different role in the series and that is the role of Layla that presented her in a different picture.She added that initially she was afraid of her television experience and how that might turn out, but she was delighted when she got the calls from many fans and viewers to congratulate her. She believes that success on television has a different feeling.
