Legendary actor Kamal El Shenawi (89 years old), born on the 26th of December 1921 has sadly passed away early this morning, after an agonizing struggle with illness. Kamal El Shenawi was one of the pillars of the early Egyptian cinema, in specific during the sixties, seventies and eighties. El Shenawi gave a good 62 years of his life to the career that crowned him as “The Stud” of the early Egyptian cinema. Kamal was born and grew up in Mansoura city where he worked as an art teacher in a secondary school. Later on, he did some art work himself. Finally, he decided to completely dedicate his time for acting in 1947 he acted in the movie “The Riches of War” for director Niazi Mustafa. Kamal attempted to direct his own movies later on such as “The Sultan’s Sloths” in 1965. At a later stage in his life, his work was a variety of comedy and drama, such as: “The Thief and the Dogs”, “The Anonymous Woman”, “My Only Love”,” The Fugitive”, “Floater number 70”.However, in his later stage in life her preferred comedy, such as “ Terrorism and Kabab” , “Tata, Rika and Sir Kazem”. Kamal El Shinawi costarred alongside some of the prominent actresses of the century such as Shadia, Leila Murad and Sabah in movies such as “From Heart to Heart” and “The Anonymous lover”He was in some of the movies chosen to be amongst the 100 best movies in the history of the Egyptian cinema, such as : The Prince of Revenge, The Thief and the Dogs, Impossible, The Man that Lost his Shadow, Al Karnak. Kamal also worked in the television engaging in some television series such as “Zeinab and the Throne” , “Hend and Dr. Nomaan”, “ The Children of the Principal” , “For Security Reasons” and finally , his final participation was in the series called “the End of the Road “
