Ahmed Mahmoud Abu Zeid: The series “Adam” broke the records in terms of indulging in politics and religion, which are 2 very big taboos.

Author and script writer Ahmed Mahmoud Abu Zeid considered “Adam” the first television series to ever indulge in depth in issue such as politics and religion, as it was considered a psychological taboo to discuss any such issues in the past during the reign of Mubarak. Abu Zeid explained that the series is calling for the union between Muslims and Christians and clarifies that the only real beneficiary for a religious war in Egypt are the Americans and the Israelis. He explained the difference between “Islam” (becoming Muslim) and “Isteslam” (giving in), declaring that it is important to generate peace and tolerance amongst the people, which in turn, results in mutual respect.Abu Zeid was certain that the series will be a success and although he initially felt that people were following the series to criticize it, but eventually the audience felt that the series is flawless. Abu Zeid intended to portray the 2 examples of police officers. The first example is that of the officer who functioned under the corrupt system in the past and took the law in his hands, and the second is the dream officer who follows and respects the law. He also pointed out that the police force in general is exerting a lot of effort to keep the wheels in motion and that the new image of the police officer is the one that is required after the revolution.
