“The Yearning” represents Egypt in the Oscars

The committee responsible for nominating the best Egyptian movie to compete internationally for the Oscars finally announced the movie that will be chosen. From the 4 movies that were initially competing and they are “Hawi”, “678”, “Microphone” and “The Yearning”. The movie “The Yearning” for director khaled El Hagar, was chosen to represent Egypt in the Oscars that will take place in February 2012.The committee will send a copy of the movie to the Science and Arts Academy (Oscar) along with an official letter that states that “The Yearning” is the official movie representing Egypt in the Oscars.The movie will compete with 70 other movies that will later on enter a phase 2, competing with 10 movies and finally the last stage where the best 5 movies will take the lead.“Messages From the Sea” was the last movie to compete in the Oscars for director Dawood Abdel Sayed last year, but it didn’t even get past phase one.“The Yearning” is written by Sayed Ragab and directed by Khaled El Hagar, and staring Sawsan Badr , Ruby, Kooki, Sayed Ragab, Mohamed Ramadan and Ahmed Azzmy. The movie had won the Golden pyramid Award in the past during the Cairo International Cinema Festival last year.
