Director Khaled El Haggar expressed his extreme happiness that his movie “The Yearning” made it to the Oscars as Egypt’s representative. Although, the movie is competing with 5 very strong opponents, yet Khaled is not really worried as he believes that if a movie is successful on a national level, this prepares it for the international competition.“The Yearning” has already won the Golden Pyramid Award here in Egypt in the Cairo Cinema Festival and the award was granted by international jury, he explained to “Al Masry Al Yom” newspaper. El Haggar believes that the real reason behind the movie’s success is the issue that the movie is discussing. The movie is discussing a local problem but through universal techniques. Topics such as poverty, hunger, power and unemployment are considered international dilemmas, which anyone can easily relate to.“The Yearning” is written by Sayed Ragab and it is staring Sawsan Badr, Ruby, Kooki, Sayed Ragab, Mohamed Ramadan and Ahmed Azmi.
