Even though journalism is a profession that respects liberty of speech and thoughts, Gamal Abd El Rahim, member of Journalists Union Board, had threatened to sue the makers of the new film "Ala Wahda Wa Noss" and to get a court order of preventing it from being released on public and satellite channels. In his defense of this threat, Gamal said to Al Hayat Al Yowm that the board had received many calls criticizing the film and accusing it of consisting of many inappropriate scenes that offend the Egyptian female journalists. He clarified the difference between the liberty of opinion and creativity and the vulgarity which is clear in the film. Gamal assured that the Union will never allow anyone to offend the journalists. On the other hand, the "Liberal Reporters" movement had requested for a public ban of the film and to sue the Censorship of Artistic Works department for permitting its release. They also said that the District Attorney had received many proclaims against the head of that Censorship department and against the Minister of Culture and they demanded immediate investigation with them to understand their reasons in allowing such an "absurd film" to be allowed. Moreover, the "Liberal Reporters" announced that they will sue the Minister of Culture if the film was not banned as they feel it is demeaning to the journalists and it accuses them of pimping. They said that Sama Al Masry who is the producer, writer and actress in the film shows the journalists as a bunch of dancers and pimps after she announced that the film is based on the real life of an Egyptian female journalist. They demanded investigation with Sama to force her to publicize the names of those so-called real characters so they will clear their profession from those corrupted persons like she claims.
