Today, 2 April is the 207th anniversary for the birth of one of the greatest children's books authors, Hans Christian Andersen. Born to a poor family, in the town of Odense, Denmark, on 2 April 1805; Hans adopted the love of art, literature, and reading from his father that used to read to him every night at 8. After his death, Hans had to work and support himself but that didn't stop him from writing. His father left him an inheritance of a fantasy world from all the stories he read to him that by time where the inspiration to all the wonderful children stories he wrote like "Thumbelina", "The Snow Queen" and "The Red Shoes". Hans passed away on 4 August 1875 leaving a legacy of children's stories, poets, and literature that were turned into great films. The Queen of Denmark has honored him in an award under his name given to the best children book of the year.
