Fribourg Film Festival Special Jury Award goes to the Jordanian film "The Last Friday"

"Al Jomaa Al Akhira - The Last Friday", directed by Yehya Abdallah, was the Jordanian film that snatched the Special Jury Award at the Fribourg International Film Festival which is worth 10,000 Swiss francs. The film is a multi-award winner, as it received three awards from the 8th Dubai Film Festival and they are the Special Jury Award, Best Actor (Ali Suleiman) and Best Composer (Le Trio Joubran). It also received four awards in the 59th San Sebastian Film Festival in the "Cinema in Motion" competition as well as receiving positive feedback at the Berlin Film Festival and the Gulf Film Festival. "Al Jomaa Al Akhira" is about the concept of manhood at the conservative Arabic societies and. The film also focuses on the international economical crisis and its impact on "Youssef"'s family who is a forty year old married man who loses his job so his wife leaves him. The Film stars Ali Suleiman, Yassmin El Masry, Lara Swalha and Nadra Omran.The film is also participating in the Arab Film Festival in Berlin, the Tübingen Film Festival and the Seattle International Film Festival between 17 May and 10 June.
