Dubai International Film Festival announced that Eurimages, the Council of Europe's fund for the joint production, has chosen Dubai for for its 129th meeting, which is the first time for the conference to take place out of European Union countries.The meeting will take place during the Dubai Film Festival running from the 9th to the 16th of December 2012.This decision was taken by the administration of the fund which supported 60 films per year on average for the past 20 years, with annual investments in joint production reaching 23 million euros supported by all 23 countries of European Union.Shivani Pandya, Managing Director of the Dubai International Film Festival, said they are delighted to present some of the best films from the Arab region, which they hope will give a flavor of the vibrancy and relevance of Middle Eastern cinema and hopes that the attendance of 36 representatives of Cinema in European countries will help create a bond Arab and European cinema.The fund screens 9 films from Cannes Film Festival, 5 of which participate in the official competition.Dubai International Film Festival is organized by Dubai Investment Institution in co-operation with Dubai Studio City, and with support from Dubai Culture, Dubai Duty Free, Dubai Pearl, Emirates Airlines and Madinat Jumeirah, the home of the Dubai International Film Festival.
