Focus Entertainment has picked George Clooney to direct its next political film "The Yankee Comandante", which will be produced by both Clooney and Grant Heslov, who produced "The ides of March". No details were mentioned about filming schedule or the nominated stars. The film is based on an article written by David Grann about William Alexander Morgan, the only American solider in the Cuban rebel army who revolted under the commandment of Fidel Castro. He is also the only foreigner to get a high rank in Castro's army other than Che Guevara.Morgan was then charged with conspiring to overthrow Castro. The Cuban government claimed that Morgan had actually been working for U.S. intelligence and was executed.Clooney is currently filming his scenes in the science fiction film "Gravity", starring opposite Sandra Bullock and directed by Alfonso Cuarón, set for release next year in 3D.
