"The Dark Knight" rises to the top of the US box office with 160 million dollars.

Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" made it to the top of the US box office with a 160 million dollars at weekend premiere after screening in 4404 theaters. Warner Bros. were hoping for a higher revenue for the debut of their Batman film, but it seems that the tragic incident in Colorado affected the attendance rate of the film and its revenue.The 250 million budget film has made 249 million dollars on the worldwide revenue rates. "The Dark Knight Rises" stars Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon. Drifting from first to second place is "Ice Age: Continental Drift" with 20.4 million dollars to make a revenue total of 88.8 million dollars in the States and 440.9 million dollars of the worldwide revenue to make a total gross so far of 529.3 million dollars.Climbing down to third place is Sony's "The Amazing Spider-Man" with 10.9 million weekend revenue to reach a total gross of 228.6 million. Fourth place was for the comedy "Ted" that added 10 million to its gross and in fifth place is "Brave" with 6 million. And with 4.3 million weekend revenue is "Magic Mike" which came in sixth place
