Venice Film Festival resents the arrest of Syrian director Orwa Nyrabia

Alberto Barbera, president of the Venice International Film Festival, issued a statement of resentment for the arrest of Syrian director Orwa Nyrabia by the Syrian authorities when at Damascus Airport on his way to Cairo on 31 August.The statement said that Nyrabia is an independent documentary film director who was a jury member in many festivals like Amsterdam, Tehran, Leipzig and Copenhagen. Nyrabia graduated from the High Institute of Dramatic Arts in 1999 and worked as an assistant director for Osama Mohamed in "Sandouk El Donia" and also acted in "Bab El Shamst" in 2004.The Syrian Opposing Party announced that he was president for The Cinema of Reality Festival in Syria.
