People Magazine has chosen Channing Tatum as 2012’s Sexiest Man Alive. He amazingly beat out Hollywood’s studliest of studs Brad Pitt,George Clooney, Ryan Gosling and Hugh Jackman.

Tatum gave the magazine a lengthy interview, in which the 32-year-old actor admitted he never expected to win and stressed how surprised he and his wife were. Tatum has been married to “Step Up” co-star Jenna Dewan since 2009, with whom he said he’s ready to start a family.

Dewan also told People, “I think it's an honor, because it's a great league of people that have been given this honor before him. That's special, because it says he's achieved so much in his career and in his life that makes this award a possibility. But he's always been the Sexiest Man Alive to me.”

This year’s announcement is a big upset to the diehard Ryan Gosling fan base. In 2011, Gosling fans protested and picketed People’s selection of Bradley Cooper as the sexiest man alive, humorously chanting "Bradley Cooper is just fine, but Ryan Gosling is divine."

Tatum is now busy shooting “Foxcatcher,” which is based on a true story about a paranoid schizophrenic, played by Steve Carell, who goes to prison for killing a wrestler, played by Mark Ruffalo.
