Youssef El Husseiny, presenter on ONTV's morning program, made his first public appearance in Tahrir Square on Saturday, after surviving a life-threatening car accident.

El Husseiny was greeted warmly by protesters who rushed to shake his hand and wish him well after the accident. He told them about what happened, how he survived, and the protesters listening in told him that the accident was planned and he should take all precautions to protect himself.

El Husseiny seemed exhausted after the accident, but insisted on staying in Tahrir to express his solidarity with protesters and his rejected of President Morsi's recent constitutional decree.

Husseiny got into a lot of heated discussions with people in the square over his refusal of the declaration, and the necessity of overturning it. Once tear gas canisters started flying into Tahrir from Qasr El-Aini Street, El Husseiny headed toward the battle zone with friends.

El Husseiny survived a brutal car accident that almost took his life. His trailer was suddenly separated from the truck, which caused his car to crash. He says it was a miracle he survived.
