Hollywood Renaissance man Ryan Gosling is soon to take up the mantle of actor-turned-director a la Ben Affleck and George Clooney. The producers of "Drive" have signed on to work with Gosling on his directorial debut "How to Catch a Monster."
The project has been described as a "fantasy noir fairy-tale" about a single mother whose son discovers a mysterious, macabre underwater town.
Producer Marc Platt, who worked with Gosling on "Drive," said in a press release, "He has composed a beautifully haunting script and has a very clear vision of how he will bring it to life. His ability to draw audiences into his world as an actor will serve him well as a filmmaker."
The lead role will be played by Mad Men's Christina Hendricks. Ben Mendelsohn, who co-starred with Gosling in "Drive," is also rumored to have a role, although the details of his casting are few and far between.
Filming will begin in spring 2013.
